1 , GENESIS OF THE K.V

Sundargarh is the District headquarter of Sundrgrh developed after 1850 when the Chauhan King Danardan Sekhar Deo shifted his capital to this place Sundargarh literally means “Beautiful fort” which is situated on the bank of river Ib. It occupies a very prominent position in the mineral map of India includes Iron-Ore, Manganese, lime stone, dolomite and coal are deposited in the large scale.

The KV is situated 5 Km far away from district headquarter and established in 1993. The sponsoring authority of KV is district administration. First the vidyalaya started functioning behind the Govt. Women’s College in a temporary building sponsored by the State Govt. with single section school. Due to the effort by the KVS, the district administration was allotted 10 Acres of land for the construction of KVS building at Bhawanipur, Sankara post office.

Besides the K.V, sports authority of India is situated with modern synthetic hockey court is also available. Now the school premises spread over a land of 10 acres with the infrastructure facility like football ground, volley ball court, badminton court and kabaddi court also available.

2 , IMPORTANT MILESTONE OF GROWTH:

The first batch of Class-X Board Examination students appeared in the year 1999 and till now keeping 100% result quality wise. The vidyalaya also sent students for appearing Class-XII Board Examination in 2003 and maintaining the results of above the level of KVS.

3 , GRADUAL YER-WISE EXPANSION IN CLASSES AND SECTIONS LEADING TO PRESENT STATUS:

4. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sundargarh started functioning in the year 1993 with single section from Class-I to V under Civil Sector at Sundargarh. The sponsoring authority i.e Collector & DM, Sundargarh and Chairman, VMC, KV Sundargarh was kind enough to provide temporary building in the District Panchayat Office along with one Vocational College, BIVAPA, Sundargarh. Due to consequential growth of the classes the Vocational college was shifted and more class rooms, compound wall and other basic facilities were extended by the District Administration. 5. Consequent upon construction of permanent KVS building At: Bhawanipur, P.O: Sankara, Dist: Sundargarh, the vidyalaya shifted to its new building on 25.3.2006 with all infrastructure facilities which are suitable for modern teaching learning process. The vidyalaya is since then functioning in the permanent building where sports facilities were developed by the MP Housing Board. Besides this 11 units of staff quarters have been constructed by the KVS and 08 more units are under construction.
